MES Auditorium
Mandvi, Gujarat
Auditorium for Mandvi education society is a 300 seater seater infrastructure within the campus of education society. It not only caters to people of Mandvi town but also many small village of Mandvi Taluka. This project is an aid to the education society from a atomic power station (under central government of India) which lies in 1 km radius for cultural growth of the only education society of the town. Idea was to design a public interface within the campus that also interacts with the adjoining road and surroundings outside campus as dialogue of this structure with road is very important. Site is approx. 3 m higher than the adjoining road which is a major road of the town. Considering 3 m level difference between campus level and road level, the angular slab of the auditorium seats into the ground starting from campus level and goes down towards the road. The orientation and design of the building responds to its context and the adjoining roads. By doing this major cost of excavation, soil filling and retaining wall was avoided.
