Situated in a mall, the client’s brief for the Salon and Spa was to create an intimate space, in contrast to the otherwise chaotic ambiance.
Our design started out simple, to convert the going to a salon with a bad-hair day to a brand new look, into an experiential journey. The space is designed to exude a sense of frivolity and fun in a coherent manner in which the two different functions: Salon and Spa are amalgamated to cater the different moods of the user. The mood of each individual space is guided by the different fall of light.
As each function requires different levels of intimacy, a more open salon area and a closed private spa area was visualised. In the Salon area, the relationship between the rustic, industrial materials and the simple geometric shape of the elements along with the added greenery create a dynamic yet harmonic atmosphere. The mirrors of each workstation are angled in different directions, allowing them to reflect views of both the green plantation and the shop interior. Within the Spa area, to create an atmosphere of peace and calm, a restrained color palette has been kept wherein there is predominance of black and grey, with a splash of blue color in the mani-pedi area giving it a touch of opulence. The little functional details are thoughtfully designed to augment the decor.
